The ASE Scotland Conference online will feature a number of pre-recorded sessions which will be available to view by password access, from 8th June 2024. The recordings will form part of a Scottish CPD Platform that can be accessed at any time after 8th June, by registering on Eventbrite which will generate a password to access the platform. Other CPD sessions will be added as we move into the future.

Science: what should we teach and how we should teach it?

This session will look at the current Science curriculum in Scotland as well as implied instructional methods, and critique these against published research from controlled studies in psychology and correlational studies of large data sets. An argument will be made that as educational reform takes place in Scotland, explicit instruction of scientific content and procedures should be promoted as an effective pedagogy for improving science outcomes.
